Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), a longtime advocate for reform of the Federal Reserve, is sharply criticizing the Federal Reserve today after Bloomberg news reported that the Federal Reserve secretly committed nearly $8 trillion in support to American and international financial institutions during the 2008 bailout. Kucinich recorded a video for his website before going to the floor of the House of Representatives to call upon Congress to reclaim its Constitution primacy over monetary policy.

Web users are becoming increasinly aware that companies are secretly gathering and selling the information they post on social sites like Facebook and Twitter. But now, banks may also be judging them based on their social network profile.

For the first time, banks can look pretty deeply into your private life by looking at your Facebook or other social media page and they may even consider your network of friends. The question is, “Will banks use your online persona to decide whether to give you credit?”

Israel Discount Bank installs facial recognition

If you want to enter the vault or other sensitive areas at Israel Discount Bank, you’re going to have to do it with facial recognition. The new measure, announced Monday is for employees and customers.

The Rechovot-based C-True company’s C-entry system is an advanced biometric system which the bank has tested for half a year.

The system can even identify people in difficult conditions such as dim light. Changes, such as sunglasses, beards, moustaches, different hairdos, or a hat do not affect its ability.

C-True specializes in 3D real-time machine vision. Founded in 2006, it benefits from the academic atmosphere and resources of the Weitzman Science Park in Rechovot. C-True is staffed by mathematicians, computer scientists, physicists, and engineers. The company says its labs include advanced physical simulation, strong mathematical infrastructure, and an advanced optical laboratory.
