The Yuma Jaycees have been accused of keeping half the money donated to them for charity. Their board members said that they will, eventually, pay the money.

Darci Peralta, former co-chairwoman of the Yuma Jaycees said profits raised from the tough enough to wear pink rodeo in 2011 weren’t delivered as promised.

Peralta said the Jaycees presented a check for $8,050 to the Yuma Breast and Cervical Cancer coalition but only half of it was paid.

“They said it went to bills,” Peralta said.

Board members say they’re working on it. In the mean time, people should continue to be wary of who they give their money to, particularly if they aren’t transparent about where the money is going and how it will be used.
