The TSA failed again to detect a dangerous item. This time it was a knife used to cut up an apple. They didn’t know about it until the woman carrying it notified them after passing through security. Once she did that, the TSA detained her until she missed her flight.

Despite pat-downs and X-ray scanners, the weapon got past the supposedly eagle eyes of the TSA at Newark Airport, and was revealed only by the woman herself, when she discovered it and sheepishly told JetBlue workers.

Evelyn Freay, 37, of Miami Lakes, Fla., was shocked when she found the blade inside her 1-year-old son’s carriage. She told agents she had no idea her mom had stowed it there with some fruit for the flight home.

“I’m sorry, my mom put it in there with an apple for the baby,” she told TSA agents, according to a source.

It seems that the TSA is not very good at their job, particularly at Newark Airport. They have had numerous breaches over the last year. One would think it best to either avoid Newark Airport or replace all their TSA workers because they aren’t doing a very good job at protecting anyone.
